Historic beginnings

Old Main is where it all began. The twin spires are an NAU icon at NAU, marking the early days when our first president scoured the countryside in horse and buggy for students to fill the school’s only building. Today, the red sandstone building houses a museum and galleries and presides over the North Quad. Students use the expanse of grass and trees to hang out in the sun with friends, throw Frisbees, and balance on slacklines.
